What is your Obsession?

For the longest time I had heard Glenn Beck talk about the Obsession Movie. I saw the clips of the movie on the Fox News Channel this weekend and now see why he has been so adamant that every American see this movie. I, too, don't believe we can afford to have out heads in the sand much longer. I really believe that militant Islam wants to rule the world.

Now, I am the first to admit that I believe in a sovereign, all-powerful God. Nothing happens outside of His permission. But I did tell some Christian friends that this militant Islamic advance could be permitted by Him in His sovereign will. I have often wondered where the US is in Bible prophecy. Can anyone see US in the last days events in the Scriptures?

So, what should be do? First, be informed. Second, vote wisely. Third, pray for the peace of Jerusalem (God has told us to do this), and of course, trust in God, the true God of the Bible.

If I die in a militant Islamic sweep I will happily be going to heaven. That doesn't scare me. I don't relish the prospect of death's process or method, but death itself is not to be feared for those like me who have saving faith in the finished work of Christ on Calvary. As the apostle Paul said, "For to me to live is Christ. And to die is gain."

Balanced Sense

Sanity in Columbus? What do I mean? This blog is very simply rooted in my sane worldview and belief system which is rooted in the core truth of the Judeo-Christian ethic. Yes, I mean the Bible.

Uh, Oh! I just got lumped in with a million loony-tunes and categorically dismissed by a host of highly educated, enlightened readers. Oh, well. That's the lumps I have chosen to take. You see, I am not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ. The Apostle Paul first articulated that truth in Romans 1:16. I wholeheartedly agree and consent.

Now, here's what I am NOT: a rabid, radical, flame-throwing, ill-informed lunatic. I have never gone for that style of communication nor do I think it accomplishes anything. Rather, I seek a balanced, fair approach to everything and everyone while maintaining a solid core rooted in the truth of God. Those that know me in person quickly realize that I seek to be thoughtful, caring, open, and fair.

So, with these preliminary introductions from the 50.000 foot level, let's begin to talk politics from a position of sanity. I am so tired in the insane rhetoric out there. I hope I don't add a keystroke to it! (If I do I will repent, just as I do for my sins. Promise.)

Now, many of you won't come close to agreeing with me. I am fine with that. But let's at least "flesh things out" in a civil manner. If you "flame" me I will tell you up front that I probably won't pay much attention to you. I am looking for serious-minded individuals who wish to intelligently discuss the political issues of the day in a civil, productive manner.

Any takers?
